The Bay Opening Chess Strategy

The Bay Opening is a good lure to entice the enemy to make a frontal attack against us. Then, when enough major enemy pieces have been collected in the "bay" formed by our opening formation we trap the enemy.

This opening chess strategy builds up lateral defense formations for ambush and makes the center formation seemingly weak. If we play white, we first build up the queen side. We move the pawn in front of the knight a square forward, put out the knight, and place the bishop directly to the diagonal right side of the rook.

On the other side, the king side, we also move the pawn in front of the knight a square forward, put out the knight, and place the bishop directly to the diagonal left side of the rook.

Our front is now manned by only the king, queen and some pawns. By this time several pawns would have engaged the enemy. We put out the queen and confine its operation to our king's side waiting for the right moment.

Seeing our king practically defenseless the enemy would likely send out major pieces en mass to attack our front and go after the king. Once they have inched close enough, we suddenly make a castling with the rook on the king's side.

Now, their target has suddenly shifted from the front to their left side, reducing the effectiveness of their frontal attack considerably. They have to re-group and follow our lead; attack to the left. But by now everything would be too late because our lateral attack forces would close in on them and start a merciless ambush.

As the slaughter progresses we gradually position the rooks to support our queen's quick assault and move in at the right moment.

This opening chess strategy would probably have our knights, bishops and lots of pawns among the casualties but would perhaps leave us an almost unscratched king, 2 rooks, and a queen for mopping up operations.

The enemy would likely be left with a battered king, a queen, and a few pawns. The enemy queen could be taken out by a double check, fork, skewer, or a pin strategy using our 2 rooks aided by the queen. Or, we may proceed directly to a checkmate even while the enemy queen gasps its last.

The "bay" opening chess strategy is a perfect set up for an ambush. It is worked out with patience, timing, and determination.
